Individual and Team Problem Solving

The teams competition is divided into 2 sections each with 2 parts. Each section will run for approximately hour.
Awards will be made in terms of 3 performance levels: GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE.

Part 1: Individual - Ten Questions

• 10 multiple-choice questions. This will be done individually and students will be given 30 minutes to complete as many questions as possible.

Part 2: Team Questions

• As a team complete as many of the 40 questions as possible in 30 minutes. Scoring is as follows: 5 marks if correct first attempt, 4 marks if correct secomd attempt, 3 marks if correct regardless of number of attempts.
• Teams may pass on any questions they cannot solve and receive the next question.

Part 3: Keypad Questions and Part 4: Co-Operative Problem Solving

• Teams will be given a number of co-operative problem solving activities one at a time -each lasting no more than 5 minutes.
• Points will be allocated when answers are handed in within a set time frame at: 15, 12, 9, 6 - decreasing with each minute of allocated time.
